How to prepare
Your dentist checks your bone, health history and medicines, then explains the plan and cost. Before treatment, get enough sleep, eat and take your regular medicines as usual, and avoid smoking and alcohol for at least 1 week. If you take blood thinners or antiplatelet medicine, tell your dentist in advance. Do not stop or change them yourself; your dentist will coordinate with your doctor if needed.
Aftercare
- Eat soft food, and avoid hard, sticky or very hot food
- Avoid chewing on the implant side
- Take pain relief and antibiotics as advised, and use a cold compress for swelling
- Do not smoke
- Clean gently, and use mouthwash as your dentist advises
- Attend every follow-up visit
