What does fluoride do?
Fluoride helps minerals return to weakened enamel, making teeth more resistant to acid from bacteria and food. This lowers the chance of cavities and can reduce sensitivity in some people. Clinic fluoride is much stronger than toothpaste, so it should be applied by a dentist.
Standard vs varnish fluoride
| Standard (gel/foam) | Varnish | |
|---|---|---|
| How it works | Gel in a tray or painted on, left for a short time | Thin coating that sticks to the teeth |
| Best for | Children who can sit still and cooperate | Young children and high-risk patients, as it stays on the teeth longer |
| Price (child, full mouth) | 800 THB incl. polishing | 1,000 THB incl. polishing |

Frequently asked questions
Does fluoride treatment hurt?
No. There are no injections, and most children finish in a few minutes.
How often should fluoride be applied?
It depends on cavity risk, usually every 3–6 months. The dentist will recommend the right interval.
Can adults have fluoride treatment?
Yes, especially people with frequent cavities, braces, a dry mouth or sensitive exposed roots. The dentist will assess and quote at the clinic.
Is fluoride safe for children?
Yes, when applied by a dentist in an age-appropriate amount. At home, make sure children do not swallow large amounts of toothpaste.
Do I still need to brush after fluoride?
Yes. Fluoride adds protection, but brushing, flossing and regular check-ups are still needed.
