Retainers in Bangkok from 2,800 THB at La Posh Dental Clinic
In short: A retainer keeps your teeth in their new position after braces or aligners are removed, so they do not move back. You need to wear it as your dentist instructs. La Posh Dental Clinic makes wire, clear, Zendura, fixed and Vivera retainers, from 2,800 THB per piece, including replacements for lost, broken or tight retainers.

Why do I need a retainer?

After braces come off, the bone and gums around the roots still need time to settle, so teeth tend to drift back. A retainer holds them in the new position. Without it, or with irregular wear, teeth can relapse and you may need second-round orthodontics.

How a retainer is made

  1. Exam of your bite and choice of retainer type
  2. Impression or digital scan
  3. Fabrication – a temporary clear retainer can be worn while you wait
  4. Fitting, adjustment and instructions on wear and cleaning
  5. Follow-up visits as advised

How long do I need to wear it?

Right after treatment you usually wear it most of the day, then reduce to night-time wear as the dentist advises. Teeth can move throughout life, so many dentists recommend long-term night-time wear.

Retainer care

  • Rinse in cool or lukewarm water and brush gently every day – never use hot water
  • Take it out before eating or drinking anything coloured or sugary
  • Always keep it in its case, not wrapped in a tissue, and away from pets
  • Contact the clinic quickly if it breaks, gets lost or feels unusually tight

Frequently asked questions

Do I really need a retainer after braces?

Yes. It keeps your teeth in their new position. Without it, teeth may move back.

I lost or broke my retainer. What should I do?

Contact the clinic for a new impression or scan as soon as possible. A temporary clear retainer (1,200 THB) can be made while you wait.

I had braces elsewhere. Can you make my retainer?

Yes. The dentist checks your current tooth position first. If teeth have moved a lot, they may need straightening again before a retainer is made.

My retainer feels tight after I forgot to wear it. What now?

If it still fits, wear it consistently and book a check. If it will not go in, do not force it – contact the clinic.

Clear or wire retainer – which is better?

It depends. Clear retainers are less visible; wire retainers are durable and adjustable. The dentist will advise based on your teeth and habits.
