Second-round Orthodontics in Bangkok from THB 39,900 at La Posh Dental Clinic
In short: Second-round orthodontics corrects teeth that moved after earlier braces, most often because a retainer was not worn. Minor relapse can be treated with ADA clear aligners from THB 39,900 (1 arch) in about 2 months; larger movement may need ADA Medium (THB 79,000–89,000, about 5–7 months) or new fixed braces from THB 40,000.

Why do teeth move after braces?

Teeth can drift throughout life. The most common reason for relapse is not wearing a retainer as instructed, but ageing, tooth loss and habits can also play a part. Small shifts often appear first in the lower front teeth. Orthodontic work is led by Dr. Lalita Rutchakitprakarn, orthodontist (license ท.9453), MSc in Orthodontics from National Yang-Ming University (Taiwan).

Treatment steps

  1. Examination, scan and X-rays to check how much the teeth moved and the health of the roots and gums
  2. Digital plan and price confirmed
  3. Aligners or braces delivered
  4. Check-ups as scheduled
  5. New retainer and a plan for long-term wear

Preventing relapse next time

  • Wear your retainer exactly as your dentist advises – often night-time wear long term
  • Replace a lost or broken retainer quickly
  • Bring your retainer to check-ups

What happens if you do not wear a retainer?

A retainer holds the teeth in their new position after braces. If it is not worn regularly or correctly, the teeth gradually move away from the finished position. They can tip, crowd again or stop meeting properly, and orthodontic treatment may be needed again.

Shifted teeth are not only a cosmetic issue. An uneven bite can make chewing harder, wear down some teeth faster, and make cleaning more difficult, which raises the risk of gum inflammation.

Do I have to do second-round braces?

Not always. If the teeth have moved only slightly and this does not affect your bite or oral health, a second round may not be necessary. If teeth have tipped enough to make biting uncomfortable, or are affecting your gums and teeth, see an orthodontist to assess whether treatment is worthwhile.

Second-round orthodontics often suits:

  • People whose teeth have tipped so the bite feels wrong, or crowding makes cleaning difficult
  • People who did not wear a retainer after their first braces and whose teeth moved back
  • People who had braces 10–15 years ago and whose teeth have changed with age

If you go ahead, plan with an orthodontist, take extra care with cleaning during treatment, and wear your retainer exactly as advised afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

How long does second-round treatment take?

It depends on your teeth. ADA Mini takes about 2 months and ADA Medium about 5–7 months; larger movement can take 6–24 months.

How much does it cost?

ADA Mini is THB 39,900 (1 arch) or THB 42,900 (2 arches); ADA Medium is THB 79,000 or THB 89,000. Fixed braces start at THB 40,000.

Can I do it if I had braces at another clinic?

Yes. The dentist examines your current teeth and X-rays first.

Are there risks or side effects?

You may have soreness at first and some difficulty speaking or chewing for a while, and there is a small risk of root resorption after earlier long treatment. Your dentist plans carefully to limit these.

How do I stop my teeth moving again?

Wear a retainer as instructed after treatment and replace it if it is lost or broken.
